For the Dirty Laundry group exhibition at Lux Laundromat
The term Dirty Laundry to me suggests that there are certain personal matters that are best left private for the protection of the individual and the community.
Social media’s use of the term “community guidelines” has helped spread the false narrative that our bodies are dirty and wrong. They impose these guidelines solely as a way to increase profit. Meanwhile their advertising and content is designed to be addictive and results in lower self-esteem and decreases real human connection.
This body of work is about about self-acceptance, empowerment and the beauty in each of us. Something I feel we all need to remember whenever we plug-in into social media.
